The GESS Board of Directors is the governing body of the graduate school. It is composed of the University Vice President for Infrastructure, Young Scientists and Equality of Opportunities and three Academic Directors representing the three centers for doctoral studies.
The Academic Directors are elected by the graduate school members of the respective school or department. The GESS Board is headed by the Dean of Graduate Studies, who reports directly to the Office of the President of the University of Mannheim and represents the school to the outside.
The GESS Board is based on the principle of shared collegial governance and is responsible for the long-term mission and vision, as well as the program planning and resource allocation of the graduate school in the medium term.
