The Center for Doctoral Studies in Business (CDSB) administers the PhD program at the Business School of the University of Mannheim, which is triple accredited by AACSB, EFDM (EQUIS) and AMBA.
The CDSB as part of the GESS was established through the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments.
The PhD program is taught and administered in English. Admission is based purely on merit and open to excellent students holding either a four year Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree. Admitted students receive a scholarship and there is no tuition fee. CDSB students are financed by a scholarship during the first year (1.250 €/month) of their studies. Afterwards, students are either funded by a continuation scholarship or teaching/research assistantships at the University of Mannheim. Students are also encouraged to actively pursue external funding options themselves.
Recent graduates of the program have published in top academic journals, e.g. the Journal of Financial Economics, Information Systems Research and the Review of Financial Studies, and have obtained academic positions at top European departments (e.g. Tilburg University; University of St. Gallen; Erasmus University Rotterdam; University of Warwick) and in the U.S. (e.g. University of Michigan; Carnegie Mellon University). Detailed placement information is available in the CDSB Alumni section.
