Why I chose the University of Mannheim and in particular the GESS
My master program prepared me with the theoretical knowledge and empirical skills that were also essential for the first-year PhD students at CDSB. At the end of the program, there was a friendly atmosphere to communicate with open-minded fellow students from different disciplines about research ideas and to learn about the research interests of professors in the process of writing a proposal and finding a supervisor. Besides, CDSB has a good reputation in finance and close connections to research institutions worldwide, which allows for chance of application and collaboration. The two-year experience in Mannheim convinced me that it is a nice place to stay, and GESS offers a perfect platform to start a career in academia.
