Laura Pohlan was born in Kaiserslautern, Germany, in 1989. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree as well as her Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Mannheim in 2011 and 2013, respectively. Her graduate studies were supported through the German scholarship program “Deutschlandstipendium". In her Master's thesis she investigated the impact of job creation schemes on the unemployment duration in East Germany. During her studies she worked as a teaching assistant for statistics and she interned at the German Central Bank in Frankfurt am Main and the Federal Bureau of Statistics in Wiesbaden. Laura is combining the CDSE program with a researcher position in the research department "Labor Markets, Human Resources and Social Policy" at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW). Her research interests include applied microeconometrics and labor economics with special focus on the evaluation of labor market policies. In her free time she enjoys doing sports, cooking and traveling.
