Since September 2015, Christian Schimpf works at GESIS (in Mannheim) and the CSES project as a Research and Data Processing Specialist in conjunction with pursuing a PhD at the GESS (University of Mannheim). He obtained both his Bachelor' s and Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Salzburg. During his Master's studies, Christian visited the Department of Political Science at Aarhus University, Denmark, to carry out research within the scope of his Master's thesis. His research interests include populism, economic voting, and comparative public opinion. Recently, he published an article (along with Robert Huber) on the influence of populism on democratic quality in Latin America in Political Studies.
Why I chose the University of Mannheim and in particular the GESS
I chose the GESS for that it offers me an ideal combination of courses to improve my skills as a researchers as well as helpful guidelines and time frame to work on my PhD project.
