4th Science Speed Dating on April 28, 2016

It is time to experience the advantages of our graduate school once more and encourage a vivid exchange among us and across all centers: We are proud to announce that the 4th Science Speed Dating will take place on APRIL 28, 2016.

Keeping on with last year’s success, we encourage all fellow doctoral students at the University of Mannheim, independently of their belonging to GESS or not, to apply for a seat. We thus hope to benefit from the great diversity of the University of Mannheim’s fields of expertise and bring forth enriching discussions.

As the event requires a lot of preparation and places are limited, we ask you to register using the following link (until April 14 - but the earlier the better):https://de.surveymonkey.com/r/VZJ225Z

Join this event, enjoy a great evening, meet new people and develop new research ideas! In case you are wondering now what a Science Speed Dating is, here are some points to clarify this:
1.      Science speed dating is a social gathering in which pairs of researchers get a fixed amount of time during which they exchange with each other over their research. This event produces matches of researchers who are then encouraged to engage in research collaboration.
2.      The idea of the Science Speed Dating is to enhance exchange and interdisciplinarity in our various graduate programs. We would like to get you out of your office and your center to exchange your research ideas with students from other centers. Together you might be able to develop a larger research agenda.
3.    In a follow-up we will inform those of you who indicated a match in research interests and encourage you to write a brief joint research proposal.
4.      Research proposals will be reviewed and the best research proposals will be awarded a price taking the form of financial support to realize your proposal (for example, if you need a student assistant to collect data or funding to present your idea at a conference). The GESS Board of Directors has announced a total amount of 1.500 Euro which we will share among the best research proposals.

The Science Speed Dating is an event more than worth it to take part in. Register today! If you have any questions, please contact your center student representative.
