BGSE & GESS PhD Workshop
Students from Bonn Graduate School of Economics (BGSE) and Graduate School of Economics and Social Sciences (GESS) have organized a workshop in Mannheim on May 13, 2017.
The aim of this workshop is to provide a venue for PhD students to present and discuss on-going work with fellow students from another top university and to facilitate the scientific exchange between the members of the Bonn and Mannheim graduate schools. For students at the beginning of the thesis writing stage, it presents an excellent opportunity to make some first experiences in presenting or discussing a paper. For students going on the job market in the following fall, the workshop takes place at the ideal time to present a preliminary version of their job market paper to an unfamiliar audience.
BGSE and GESS are two of the most successful and established German economic graduate schools. The informal setting of the workshop with a small number of participants allows for a more intensive exchange of research ideas than at larger PhD conferences. This facilitates making personal contacts, which could even result in joint research projects. Thanks to the geographical proximity of Bonn and Mannheim, students can travel back and forth on the same day, limiting the effort and costs of participation.
Thank you very much for this initiative Kai Arvai (2nd year PhD student from Bonn), Lukas Henkel (3rd year PhD student from Mannheim) and Katja Mann (4th year PhD student from Bonn).
