CDSE Alumna Laura Pohlan receives the "The Future of the Working World" research award

CDSE Alumna Dr. Laura Pohlan received the research award "Zukunft der Arbeitswelt" ("The Future of the Working World") for the best doctoral thesis at the New Year’s reception of the Volksbank Weinheim eG. The award was conferred for the sixth time by The Volksbank Weinheim Foundation and the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) since 2013.

Laura Pohlan who obtained her doctoral degree at the University of Mannheim, examines in her doctoral thesis titled “Essays on Unemployment, Job Search Behavior and Policy Interventions“ through what channels unemployment leads to social exclusion and how policy interventions and technological innovations affect individual job search behavior and are able to draw the unemployed back into the labor market.

It is the award’s aim to honor and reward excellent scientific contributions that offer practical solutions to social challenges. It is endowed with EUR 3,000.
