CDSS Alumna Simone Malejka receives best doctoral thesis award by the German Society for Psychology
CDSS Alumna Dr. Simone Malejka received the best doctoral thesis award by the Cognitive Section of the German Society for Psychology (DGPs). The biannual award is confered after a two-day symposium during which 10 selected finalists present their thesis work and answer questions by a panel of experts.
In her doctoral thesis entitled “Challenging the Pole Position of Signal-Detection Theory,” Simone investigated which of two competing models is better suited to measure recognition memory. By refuting 20 arguments against two-high-threshold theory, she showed that signal-detection theory’s dominance in the field is unjustified and that two-high-threshold theory should sometimes be preferred.
